from the New Yorker,
(Mick) McGeough, an appreciator, generally, of agitators and their in-game chatter, found himself giggling. “I wasn’t fond of it,” he said a few days later. “But it’s done. Are people talking about it? Sure. Was it bush league? That’s crap. It’s good for the game.” As he talked, a call came in from another retired N.H.L. referee, Paul Stewart. Stewy, who was at an Applebee’s in Walpole, Massachusetts, watching the Yankees play the Sox, left a message: “Sean Avery is like a case of jock rash. It’s there, it bothers you, and eventually you have to just play through it.”

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

The New Yorker covering hockey? Seems they read the Maxium article from last year and decided this is relevant (lifted some direct observations as well about his “style"). Attempting to make someone born in Pickering seem like a boy from the prairies is just either plain stupid or bad journalism.
Slew footing in the same category as trash talking? All the pretty words in the world won’t make up for a writer that is ignorant on the subject being coverd. As for Magoos enjoyment of Avery, that explains why so many fans rejoiced when he announced he wouldn’t be coming back.
