“We continue to hear that the Leafs want to trade Bryan McCabe. Bryan has a no-move clause in his contract that was negotiated with and agreed to by the Leafs. Bryan is not inclined to waive the no-move clause,” Pulver told Sportsnet.ca. “He enjoys living and playing in Toronto and the team is a first-class organization. Bryan has logged more minutes than any other Leafs player in the past seven years and given his heart and soul to this franchise. If the Leafs want to move forward without Bryan they should buy out the remaining years on his contract.”

If you want to blame somebody, try the MLSE gang. The hapless state of their team existed well before (and will most likely continue decades beyond) the existence of these contracts.
The players negotiated these agreements in good faith, as did the Leafs. If you choose to denigrate the players for living up to their side of the bargain, IMHO you’re the one who’s being ridiculous.

Well said, shep.
It’s not the responibility of the players to help ownership fix their screw-ups - the players are paid to play, not to make things easier for management.
If poor ownership decisions were made, it is the fault of MLSE and they are the only ones responsible for fixing their own problems.

The frozen five are ridiculous. They say they don’t want to leave because they love this city. If any of the frozen five loved our city, and weren’t selfish, they’d waive their no-trade clauses and allow this team to have a decent future when their gone. Sundin, McCabe, Kaberle, Kubina and Tucker have each done their part in insuring this team has absolutely no future.
