“I try to work my whole career to become a guy that has a reputation, as a person and what kind of player I am. I felt that I had gotten there, and when something like this happens, no matter what it is — whether it’s just business, whether it’s personal, we don’t really know — once the label ‘buyout’ is on you, then the questions start coming,” Parrish said.

“I worked my butt off for this, and now I have to put up with this crap. It’s irritating, but that’s the business.”

-Mark Parrish who is looking for a team to play with.  More on Parrish from John Shipley of the Pioneer Press.

he should have worked his butt off to score goals, and worried less about his reputation.

Oh boo-friggin’-hoo. Over $900K a year for six years is a pretty princely sum to ‘put up with’ most anything.

I wonder if any of the stat super-freaks have data on the percentage of bought out players with/without current work?

I just have a hard time believing Parrish’s reputation is/was all that great if he can’t catch on somewhere for the league minimum. At the very least I’d think a couple of his talent-poor former teams would show interest despite the alleged ‘stigma’ of the buyout. Can’t he even get a tryout?

Darcy Tucker was bought out, wasn’t he?  And Todd Bertuzzi?  They got jobs again.
