Unfortunately EA will not be releasing this game for PC gamers this year. A troubling trend in PC gaming.
Too true. Half the fun of the EA NHL series has always been the plethora of mods/updates done yearly by fans for the PC series: your in-game JLA doesn’t need to just kinda’ look like the real thing… a fan mod can make it the real thing, including the ice and board ads and everything. And that’s not even mentioning the ditty packs you can download which let the real songs play during breaks in action just like they do in real arenas.
I’ll stick to playing NHL ‘09 for PC I guess for the next few years. With the NHL EHM series having died with ‘07 as well, options for a PC hockey fan are now none and I have no interest in investing in an overpriced console.

Wow, not even PS2. That SUCKS!!!!
My nephew who’s 6 years old and has PS2 & the Wii, is dying for NHL10. He just can’t wait. And I already promised him that we’d go get it the first day that it’s out, assuming it would be available on PS2. Now the hard part telling him that they don’t make it for PS2 . And then after enough nagging probably go out and get him a PS3 or X360 (his choice). Hopefully I can hold him off ‘til christmas, I doubt it.
These companies get you by the b@lls and then squeeze!!

This time I think EA squeezed too hard and they’re going to be the ones hurt. There are enough fans of the PS2/PC versions of the game that can’t afford a system upgrade, and those are pure and simple sales losses they can’t recover.
At some point, EA will wake up and not only open things back up again, but also make a Nintendo DS version like they do for FIFA (the FIFA DS games are really nice BTW with great features… if FIFA can work on that portable, NHL can as well).
I mean, unless EA suddenly just doesn’t like money anymore or something…

If EA put their NHL Arcade on the DS I would be happy. But I doubt it would happen. Maybe someday, who knows.

Is the PC version of NHL 09 actual good? I heard EA completely trashed the PC version. I’d like to know if that was a rumor or is it actually really good?
I bet they’re not making it for PC because PC games are extremely easy to copy. That’d be my guess. At least the 360 and PS3 just went down in price for you (still expensive though but you’ll save a couple bucks:-)) This could really hurt their business but aren’t they a multi-billion dollar company anyways? I’m sure they can handle it.
