Filatov Shows Some Responsibility

from Tom Reed of Puck-rakers,
This morning, the left winger accepted responsibility for making mistakes and said he appreciated the way Arniel constructively explained the shortcomings. Filatov also took a jab at former coach Ken Hitchcock who he said would bench him at times even when he hadn’t made a mistake.
“I made a couple of mistakes, I didn’t get the puck out of the zone, had a stupid (delay-of-game) penalty,” Filatov said assessing last night’s performance. “Of course I was pretty disappointed. But you get past it and focus on the next game, and you think about it so you don’t make the same mistakes next time.
“When a player is making mistakes, it’s not the best night for him … and it was a close game.”
Arniel said Filatov, who has two assists in five games, did not compete hard enough against the Ducks and he didn’t seem to want the puck. He pointed to Filatov’s delay-of-game penalty, taken early in the second period, when the Russian could have skated the puck out of the zone instead of trying to clear it out of the defensive zone.
