CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today their third jersey for the 2010-2011 season will be the Flames Vintage jersey. In celebration of the Flames 30th Anniversary season this vintage jersey was worn five times in games versus the other five Canadian teams.
The new third jersey for the 2010-2011 season will feature Vintage jersey striping and colours on the new innovative fabrics and cut that was introduced by Reebok for the 2007-2008 season. The Edge Uniform System was introduced to better complement today’s game and to help improve player performance.
Tonight’s game versus the Ottawa Senators at Pengrowth Saddledome will be the last time the Flames will wear the vintage jersey this season. At the conclusion of the game all players will give the Jerseys Off Their Backs to 24 lucky fans who have been randomly selected through seat locations on ice level.
The third jersey will be worn up to 15 games next season and will be available at all FanAttic locations at the beginning of the 2010-11 season.

That should just friggin’ BE their jersey.
The NHL needs some pop back in their colors. First OIlers, then Sabres, then Flyers, now Flames…. I love that the blunt colors are coming back.

worn five times
wow, are NHL teams dumb. they design HORRENDOUS new school jerseys that look like crap and then wear well designed ones with tradition 5 times. anyone want a hit to the head? theyre still legal.

BRING BACK THE FLYING V!!!!!! Most original and beautifully coloured NHL jersey I say!
And bring back the 90’s Penguins jerseys too.

<sarcasm>Wow, I’ve never seen this jersey before.</sarcasm>
Why can’t we just go back to all NHL uniforms circa 1993?

The wording of that press release suggests to me that the 24 fans who’ll get the jerseys tonight are fans sitting at ice level. Pretty rotten!
@Nathan: Are you saying the Penguins should go back to the ‘90s-era jerseys where they had the gray, with the futuristic triangle penguin logo? Because if so, I couldn’t disagree more!

I was against these designs at first, but they have grown on me. I still think someone on the team needs to grow a Lanny moustache. Then the club will look retro!!

Oh no no no, I should have said early 90’s.
I think about the 24 jerseys they mean they will be randomly selected while the selector is on the ice after the game, but it’s obviously not clear enough.
Staying with jerseys off their backs, with last year’s Canuck’s jerseys off the back, I recall hearing that all the people picked were on ice level (club seats). Regardless, I know a local ticket broker who knows people in the organization, and he lightly pulled a string to get his son presented with one of those jerseys, as did others, he told me. Shitty. Life.

Are those Spider pants?
You won’t see any of the grey on the design, that is just to show the seams… I hope!
I agree, all team should now look back at all their past designs and go with the best one. This would be the Flames one for sure, and I would love to have the purple and gold back for the Kings… with that old crest… those were classic… yep even the Flying V would be cool - but not all the time…

Those are epic sweaters. I long for the days when you could flip a game on TV and know within a nanosecond who was playing.
Boom! That’s Hartford!
Boom! That’s definitely the Oilers!
