Flames Will Be Tough To Play Against

from Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun,
Craig Conroy has a theory, and it’s likely to make Flames fans giddy with anticipation.
“We’re not in the offensive mode like we were with Juice (Kristian Huselius) and Tangs (Alex Tanguay), but we’re kind of like getting back to the team of ‘04 with grit,” said the veteran Flames centre.
“We’ll make it really uncomfortable to play against. Do you really want those guys like (Todd) Bertuzzi and Iggy coming at you and those young guys flying at you, too? I’m starting to see a lot more similarities.”

Bertuzzi doesn’t have anything left. That they’re counting on him that heavily says volumes about the state of their team this year.
Who said anything about the “Flames counting on him that heavily”????
If you read anything about the Bertuzzi signing - you would have known that Sutter expects him to get 15-20 goals max. That doesn’t sound to me like they are counting on him that heavily. I think they are counting on Iginla, Cammmalleri, Langkow, Kipprusoff heavily. The rest of the team is the supporting cast.

Flames fan on the island...Is it just me, or do the Flames still seem stuck in pre-lockout mode, while the rest of the NHL has moved on?

tough to play against, easy to skate around.

So they’re actually counting on Iginla (nothing new there), Cammalleri (noted for his midseason drops in production after starting out hot), Langkow (not a real goalscorer), and Kipper (who can stop pucks but not score goals)?
It’s another year and here we are once again asking ”Who’s going to score the goals in Calgary?”. And it once again appears the answer is ”Umm, Iginla and… ummm… err.. I don’t know?”. I don’t see this CGY team being any different than the CGY team of the past few years. They can be a gritty as they want, but with no real threats other than Iginla they can’t and won’t get anywhere.

Lets take an in depth look at their off season…
Sub
Cammalleri for Tanguy = streaky for streaky
Bertuzzi for Nolan = a bigger and slower
Bourque for Huselius = injuries for disapperances
Glenncross = the one move I like…
now… lets take a look at the Red Wings.
Sub
Hossa for Drake = Calgary out in first round.

No, Calgary will not be difficult to play against, no more so than they have been for the last couple years.
