from Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun,
Former Calgary Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Wayne Fleming just received good news from an MRI and continues to rehab in Calgary.
Five months after undergoing extensive brain surgery to remove portions of a tumour, the affable Winnipeg native says he’s grateful for all the encouragement he’s received.
“Every day is a challenge, but I’m focused on staying strong and positive, working hard at rehab and moving forward one day at a time,” wrote Fleming in a text.
“Thanks to the love, support and encouragement of my family, friends and the hockey community, I’m pushing through this. Also, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been so supportive throughout this ordeal, and I’m honoured to work with such a great organization.”
Hockey Canada boss Bob Nicholson watched a recent Lightning game on TV at Fleming’s house during which the former Bolts assistant texted his thoughts to a coaching staff he remains in regular contact with.
