Here in the city that once adored the Broad Street Bullies, the lack of energy shown by the Philadelphia Flyers in back-to-back losses to the Maple Leafs is cause for concern.
Especially from general manager Paul Holmgren.
“Absolutely,” he said last night after his team’s 3-2 setback at the hands of the Leafs. “Not about how they got away from us but how we started those games.
“We are flat. We have to have emotion. The emotion this time of year should be ramping up right now and it’s not for our team.
“I know we have a little bit of the flu thing going around but guys were healthy enough to play tonight, healthy enough to play last night and it’s not an excuse this time of year.”
