Interesting comments from Philadelphia’s top defenseman Kimmo Timonen, who was assessed a 10-minute misconduct at the end of Game 2, about the differences he perceives in how the on-ice officials treat the two teams.
“The only thing that I notice is that I didn’t see the refs yelling at their bench, not one time,” Timonen said. “And I can see them coming over to our bench a few times. It makes you wonder, ‘Why?’ That’s for other people to judge. We just go out there and play. And hopefully, we get some breaks, too.”
Pressed about the issue, Timonen said the referees were doing more yelling at the Flyers’ bench.
“Obviously, they had something to tell. Was it us yelling at them? Or them to us? I don’t know,” he said. “But you see [their] guys going to the refs and talking to them and it looks like they talk to them back. But when we go to talk to them, they yell at us. It’s a little bit of a difference. It’s not something we can control.”

it’s kinda interesting that Backstrom breaks Staals stick and their was no call but Gioux gets called last night for same thing.

i think tomorrow afternoon’s game is going to be nasty day for pens and NHL on and off ice tomorrow in philly because you have a pissed off fan base that will be there in full force at the pens bench and at the refs throats, Carcillo is back in the lineup for flyers and their might be a good possibility flyers dress cote.
i think there’s a atmosphere that been created by refs and this league might lead to couple events tomorrow during the game tomorrow…....

As i was watching the Red Wings game i began to think players like yzerman,Gretzky, Jagr, Sakic, Coffey, Bourque and etc. EVER recieved the special treatment the players today receive like an AO, Crosby, Malkin or Zetterberg do and teams wasnt treated differntly like Edmonton oilers of 80’s Compared to player itself like a Crosby.
this leads me to conclusion that this league NHL = NBA because It’s all about the individuals not team, it’s about More powerplays means more freedom for the individuals to showcase their talent than showing the grit of an team.refs calling phantom penatlies that arent in rulebook or calling penatly shots during a game because they forced to do it or they wont be allowed work playoff games (i.e. Ref Kerry Frasher got blacklisted from league because he doesnt ref a game bettman wants them to)
Don be surprised if this ‘sport’ decides to go with playoff shootouts in the next coming years because the 5 on 3 ‘s pp are just cloaking it for now.

Come on no one here can possibly be surprised. The NHL loves my team and NBCrosby has a love affair with Crosby. You know the NHL will do whatever it takes to make sure its either
Detroit or Chicago in the West
and
The Rangers or Flyers in the East.
This is 100% guaranteed based soley on NBCrosbys wants. Its right there people just open your EYES and look.

i guess you werent happy with don cherry labeling Orpik and rest of your team as a team of divers.

Hey FlyersFan apparetly you missed it when Cherry played a clip of Briere going down easily when Gill cross checked him as well.
Stop whining and being such a sore loser - a cross check is a cross check and a slash is a slash. Cherry is guessing and showing a bunch of clips when he can’t really tell from any replays exactly how hard and how much force was behind each of those penalties.
For a fanbase and a team who calls Crosby a whiner and a cryer, you guys sure as hell are doing a lot of whining of your own nowadays.

Also, if Orpik dove, Briere dove as well. One bad call makes up for another.
And by the way FlyersFan and all Flyers fans out there, apparently Cherry loves Crosby now. Tonight he praised him for his faceoff strategy and this is the 3rd time in like 2 months that he praised him.
A week or 2 ago he played a clip of Sid fighting and standing up for Geno and said “he’s a hockey player now”. But most of you knuckleheads keep repeating the same tired insults from 3 years ago over and over again. Nobody cares anymore. It’s a broken record. You guys lose and we’ll beat you in the playoffs… again!
