Flyers Lose Two

From the Sports Network via WJAC,

Struggling to get into the postseason, the Philadelphia Flyers learned on Monday that defenseman Derian Hatcher will be out for the season with a fractured right tibia and forward R.J. Umberger will miss the next two weeks with a sprained MCL.

Hatcher was hurt with 12:07 left in the first period of Saturday’s 3-2 overtime loss to Boston while blocking a slap shot by Bruins forward Andrew Ference. Hatcher was helped off the ice and did not return.  The right leg was broken just above the ankle and was placed in a cast on Saturday. It is possible he might return to play if the Flyers make the postseason.

Losing Umberger stinks, but Hatcher has been known to take out his teammates, so it will just take some more commitment from Timmonen and the rest of the Boys to share the load. We just need some stronger play within the pipes, and Daniel Briere to actually prove something.

In light of all the old timers coming back to the NHL, is Keith Primeau staged for a comeback?!

-Just another Flyers fan who can’t put that wild theory to rest.

Losing hatcher is worse than losing umberger. hatcher has adjusted to ‘new nhl’very well and was basically the backbone of the flyers defense. he will be missed . if they miss playoffs it’s still stevens fault because the players do not give any respect to stevens, therefore they dont listen to him. They only respect the organization. until he demands their respect the flyers are mediocre at best. he needs to start benching other players then downie and cote. you dont call out your players one night and the next night you scratch your energy line the next night and say we had no energy

losing hatcher is biggest lost for flyers. but if they dont make the playoffs it’s still going to be john stevens fault because he doesnt get this team ready for big games and scratches the wrong players every game.
