from the Philadelphia Flyers,
The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have signed 6’1”, 195-pound restricted free agent goaltender Antero Niittymaki to a new two-year contract, according General Manager Paul Holmgren. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.
“We believe that Antero is a very good young goalie. He is only 26 years old and we feel that he is still on the upswing,” said Holmgren in making the announcement. “We realize that last year was a down year for everybody, including Antero. We feel that our goaltending, along with Marty Biron, is strong, and we are excited to have both of them under contract.”

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

Niittymaki was thinkinbg about going back to Finland and play in their league because he thought he was hang out to dry most of last season and plus his hip flexor was a big problem.
He’s clearly better than esche. esche is a cancer in the locker room.
flyers just to find a new goaltender’s coach because Reggie Lemlein is doing scouting duties and coaching at the same time plus his style is so outdated that the goalies didnt play one attendtion to home all of last season.
some people are pissed at him for going on boston telecast and ripping the team behind their backs....he stills has nightmares of giving up that goal to Clarke in OT......
