Foote Wanted To Wins So He Left Columbus For Colorado

from Terry Frei of the Denver Post,

One reason veteran defenseman Adam Foote wanted out of Columbus was that he wanted to win, and in the NHL that means — at the very least — making the playoffs.

A little more than a year after he was traded back to the Avalanche from the Blue Jackets, Columbus is in the thick of a fight for its first postseason berth and Colorado is in last place in the Western Conference, destined to be done playing when the regular season ends April 12.

Oops.

“It’s tough,” Foote said Wednesday. “I don’t think anyone likes it. We have to keep trying to be better.

“You have to deal with it, and there are two ways to do it. You can mope around or keep working hard.”

I like it, Adam. I like it a lot. In fact, I think it’s hilarious. I imagine a lot of your former teammates on Columbus do too.

I hope you choke on the irony, you ****ing traitor.

Kinda funny how he refused to take the ice each time Colorado visted Columbus this year, too, isn’t it?

Yeah, that’s tough eh Adam, I thought the tradition was that the captain goes down with the ship, not bolts to a fueled up and ready to go airplane on trade deadline day.

The Dive and Foote definitely deserve one another and their current place in the standings.

Hahahahahahahahaha ... (takes deep breath) ... hahahahahahaha!

Seriously, it just points out how unexpected life can be sometimes.  I wonder what kind of role he would have right now if he had stayed with the Blue Jackets and committed to helping the young team make the playoffs?  I’ll bet his experience in stretch drives would come in valuable for the team right now, and he would be an important veteran on the team - and probably having a lot of fun.

Nothing makes me happier to see that douchebag rotting away with The Dive. Rick Nash has every quality of a great captain, whereas Adam Foote is probably a worse captain than Sindey Crosby.

I just point and laugh at Adam Foote.

The Dives and last place.  Sounds like the makings of a long and ultimately familiar relationship.
