from the ICEMAN Bloggeth at the AJC,
Garnet Exelby had just played the puck back into the glove of Atlanta goalie Johan Hedberg to stop play. With Hurricane players surrounding the Thrasher net like flies on an Islanders jersey everyone with an ounce of hockey sense expected the play to be blown dead. Well, the cerebrally challenged individual in the striped shirt instructed Moose to play the puck and threatened him with a delay of game penalty if he didn’t.
Hedberg played it, seconds later it’s in the net after bouncing off Exelby.
Waddell almost busted a vein spewing venomous verbiage at the zebra…. I mean he exploded on the Bozo! And I say good for you Don, you were well within your rights! I’ve seen, you’ve seen, we have all seen this type of play a thousand times in a NHL game and the ref allows for the play to stop.
Come to think of it, maybe it wasn’t a whistle stuck up there…it was probably his head.
more on the Thrashers…

that was a bizarro call of all calls.. I really don’t get why it wasn’t blown.. some folks are saying its how he got the puck that was the issue, but Ive seen that many times, and the whistle has always been blown.

There’s not much “more on the Thrashers” than that. I never say this about games, but the reffing during that game was awful.
I think the results would have still been the same, though. Carolina didn’t need the refs help last night.
I’d love to see heads roll for that blown call, though, but I doubt anything will come of it.
