from Randy Youngman of the OC Register,
• It was so quiet in Joe Louis Arena after Marchant beat Detroit goalie Chris Osgood, you could almost hear the Ducks players celebrating along the boards all the way back in Anaheim.
• You could read Babcock’s lips as the Red Wings players left the bench at the end: “Good job, men.” Babcock knows it could be a deflating loss, so he was trying to soften the blow of a potentially devastating defeat.
• The Ducks don’t win very often in Detroit during the regular season (1-6-1 in the past four years), but they are now 5-2 in the playoffs at Joe Louis Arena since 2003. They also have won four consecutive overtime games at The Joe. Go figure.
• For what it’s worth, the Ducks also are 3-0 in playoff series tied 1-1 through two games.
