Game Ended In A Tie

I have often written about the lack of knowledge the radio media in Detroit has about hockey. Another example last night.
This was on the Wings radio flagship station during the post game. After recapping the Wings 4-3 victory over Nashville in a shootout, Dan Gutowski started passing on the scores from around the league. This one caught my attention- Nothing was settled in the shootout between Pittsburgh & Ottawa, so the game ends in a 4-4 tie!
Again, on the Wings radio flagship from a person who handles pre-game and post-game shows during the season.

There’s evidence to back up your assertions. Bob Duff says the following about the Regner fiasco:
he station also doesn’t have a staff reporter at Tigers camp in Lakeland, Fla., likely part of an austerity program that saw Art Regner, WXYT’s most recognizable on-air personality, fired in December, allegedly because he made too much money. Regner hosted the Detroit Red Wings broadcasts on WXYT and the Wings were none-too-happy with the decision by the station to let him go. With Wings and Tigers games being simulcast on 97.1 FM, there is speculation within the industry that WXYT may not be long for this world as a sports-talk station.
Meanwhile, another Detroit on-air sports talk show host was told by his station to cut out the hockey talk, with his bosses insisting it hurt the show’s ratings. In Hockeytown of all places. Go figure .

Heading into the third period, Gutowski also reported that the Wings and Predators were tied 2-2. I thought, “Geez, I’m glad I don’t have to tell Mathieu Schneider they took away his 200th goal!”
Seriously, what is up with this guy? Based on your comment, it sounds like it wasn’t just a “bad night.”
