from All Things Avs,
I’m officially throwing in the towel when it comes to trying to make sense of anything to do with Peter Forsberg. Really, I give up.
I will never, ever, write anything other than Forsberg is “questionable” to play a game. His latest absence is just another train wreck of head-scratching misinformation/mysteriousness.I should have known better than to swallow the Avs’ company line - again - yesterday, when I wrote what they said, that he was “likely” to play today in Minnesota. Forsberg did not play today, with yet another alleged “groin” injury.

Thank you for deciding not to buy the company line on this, and thank you for pointing out Mike Haynes’ comments. The whole charade brings up the biggest problem I have with the organization. I - and, I suspect, any true hockey fan - am beyond sick of the so-called broadcasting done by Haynes and Peter McNab. The Center Ice package gives my husband and me the chance to see games with true professional broadcasters - Haynes and McNab don’t qualify anymore, and it’s sad.
Here’s my suggested disclaimer to run before every pre-game/game/post-game: “The announcers for this broadcast are employed by the company that owns the Colorado Avalanche hockey club. Kroenke Sports policy requires them to be on-air cheerleaders, forsaking all objective analysis of the game (Sandy Clough excepted).” The rah-rah atmosphere of every Avs-related program is insulting. True fans won’t tune out if announcers are honest, for heaven’s sake; they’ll appreciate the broadcast more.
For all the talk from the Avs organization about how much they appreciate the fans, their patronizing broadcast package is Exhibit A that they don’t have a clue what that means.
