from Evan Weiner at NHL.com,
Happy Birthday Gordie Howe!
You are 79 (on Saturday, March 31) and have a legacy that may never be topped in hockey – or all sports for that matter.
There are so many stories about the guy who was simply called “Mr. Hockey” that it’s almost impossible to figure out which is true and which is legend. Even Gordie himself isn’t certain what stories really did occur, joking that he isn’t sure if he is Gordie Howe or Paul Bunyan.

Paul, over they years I’ve gotten to speak with Gordie several times and it’s always a treat. One of the funniest, most genuine guys around. Your readers should check out the book Ed Willes did on the WHA a while back. Some terrific Howe stories and a lot more fun stuff.

Thanks for the tip Phil and as you know, Gordie was my idol growing up.
I too have talked with him over the years and he always has time for everyone around him. A remarkable man.
I found the book you were referring to, I just may pick it up today.

You know you spelled Gordie wrong, Paul? Shame.
The Rebel League is a great read.
