Gonchar Could Be Out Several Weeks, His Agent Responds

from Darren Dreger of TSN,

Sources tell TSN Pittsburgh defenceman Sergei Gonchar suffered an apparent knee injury and will miss the next several weeks, perhaps the remainder of the season....

The National Hockey League has ruled out the notion of supplemental discipline which has prompted reaction from Gonchar’s representative, JP Barry.

‘’We now have Exhibit A of the extreme double-standard that exists in the NHL’s approach to discipline. Alex clearly cuts back with his knee after missing his check with devastating results. But of course, because it’s Alex, its all Sergei’s fault,’’ Barry told TSN.

it’s amazing a agent is commeting on client’s injury before the team has spoken. i guess agent wants to get his name out there before free agency starts.

i there noway the league suspends their top marketing asset…

Kunitz wasn’t suspended for a crosscheck to the neck. I thought that was more suspendable than this incident.

Knee-to-knee hits are sometimes deliberate, often accidental.  This is a tough one.

problem is players sometimes walk into it to draw a pentaly. it depends on the selling job of hurt player.

the league really should be looking into AO being placed on notice comments made by Ruslan “I never Fought in my Life and i will never win a fight” Fedotenko

Flyersfan - i know you’re not used to watching hockey this late in the year, so we can excuse you for your lack of knowledge…
but i dont think Gonchar was writhing in pain to draw a penalty or sell it and didnt Fedotenko knock Armstrong out with a one punch earlier this year in one of his fights??

It almost looked like Alex deliberately tried to hurt Sergei Gonchar.

Apparently having a wide stance while turning and going for a hit is against the rules now… The reason most knees on knees happen is because the person being hit doesn’t want to get hit (I mean, who would?).  Sometimes you hjave to take the hit to make a play and Gonchar couldn’t do that.  He may not have wanted to get injured again which is a fair assessment.  A freak accident...nothing more.

If I remember correctly, the team said Gonchar could have returned to the game, but was kept out because they were being cautious.  Now his agent is saying he could be out for weeks?  Sounds like the agent’s trying to get some air time.

So if Ovie was leading with his knee, how is it that his shoulder was squared up?

Lot of Fans of teams that aren’t used to paying attention to Playoff hockey this deep into the Playoffs & Have NO CLUE what they are talking about

BUT as I posted last Night Ovechkin wouldn’t be suspended!!!

This garage League as Mario Lemieux called it won’t do anything to Ovechkin until he Paralyzes someone or Kills someone, He also shot the Puck at Rob Scuderi’s Head with about 3 seconds left, The Guy Is a F****I whackjob

WAAAhhhhhh! he shot the puck at Scuderi’s head while Malkin was getting away with elbows the whole night. i guess Evilpens wasnt a pens fan until three years ago. seriously,

I have been watching the games after flyers got kick out and i used to be apart of game.

i know for a fact players and coaches look who is the ref that particular game just get away with stuff on the ice but the stuff i seen in the two series involving pens i would consider to be grand theft auto. i never saw a ref give a team 6 straight power plays in a playoff game.

As for Rosey cheeks, i am pointing to the fact he’s scared of the real tough guys in the league that’s why he fought Armstrong so his rosey cheeks wouldnt crack all over the ice. flyers always thought he was a lightweight on and off the ice.

it’s kinda funny that a 21 yr old rookie named Giroux owns “tough guy” Tyler Kennedy

I’m done with it. I’ll leave it alone.

where in my statement where did i said Giroux is Bobby Clarke? i was just saying a common thought among all pens fans on internet and i see on daily basis tell me that kennedy is tough guy but got destoryed in a fight by a rookie. A rookie.

As for my team sucking, i feel flyers are goaltender and two top four defenseman away from a stanley cup final appreance.

Btw, atleast snider cares about winning and is willing to do everything with his power to put a winner on the ice.....

watch pens go to final again and choke to red wings for the second straight time with hossa on the right side,.......
