from Habs Inside/Out,
Tuesday’s Canadiens-Detroit Red Wings game will be preceded by a tribute to the 81-year rivalry between the two Original Six clubs.
The Red Wings are expected to be represented by legends Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Alex Delvecchio, Marcel Pronovost and Marcel Dionne. The Canadiens are expected to have icons Jean Béliveau and Dickie Moore taking part, with Jean-Guy Talbot, Stéphane Richer and Claude Lemieux.
added 9:20pm, Because KK member snafu brought up the name Lemieux…

Yes snafu, he is a legend.
Word is, he better not come within 10 feet of Lindsay.

Claude Lemieux; legend, eh? That’s not the first description that comes to my mind.

I’ll bet vs won’t even show the pre-game tribute. :(
They always cut off the national anthems for more commercials. I hate them.

Given that the ceremony starts at 6:30, and the game starts at 7:30, we’ll see about thirty seconds of highlights, and as Gordie and Ted probably don’t want to be kicked out of the Bell Centre forever, I must regrettably suggest that we will not see an episode of, “Big jerk getting his arse handed to him by a septuagenarian (Mr. Hockey is 79) and octogenarian (Lindsay is 82).”
Though that would be the best non-game on-ice hockey moment ever.

Also: do you ever think John Hahn, Mike Bayoff, and the Wings’ PR staff would ever consider, oh, I don’t know, asking Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and, oh, I don’t know, Cheli and the aforementioned Production Line II out to celebrate the rivalry we have with the Hawks, or maybe Red Berenson, John Davidson, and that Scotty Bowman guy to do the same with the Blues?
There needs to be a rule that, at least once a year, fans get an opportunity to see some legends on the ice and give them a standing ovation’s worth of thanks…

The Claude Lemieux… as in the Avs and Draper McCarty fame??
