Is Guerin headed to the Islanders? According to Dwayne, the NYI are close…
Following up on a report that came from Barry Melrose on WFAN in NY here. Barry stated the Islanders were close to a deal for Guerin….I talked to a source that confirmed the Isles as one of the final two teams.
According to numerous folks Melrose never said Guerin was close to going to the Islanders. You can listen to the interview via WFAN... Guerin never mentioned!
Uh-Oh, E4, error on the 2nd baseman. One other thing Dwayne, why are your post timestamps off by an hour, trying to get a jump on other sources?
added 8:25pm, See the explanation of the timestamp situation from Chris in the comments of this post.
added 9:21pm, Dwayne now has updated saying he “didn’t hear the report on WFAN myself.” You can follow along if you’d like with the original link.

I got fooled on this one, too. A reader e-mailed me claiming that Melrose had made that claim, however, three readers sent me links to Melrose’s interview, claiming he never made that statement of Guerin to the Islanders.
Almost all my readers who send in radio reports to me have been on the level, but occasionally a troublemaker will sneak one past me.
I’ve since removed the report. My apologies for any confusion it may have caused.

Eklund is guilty of being at the end of “the telephone game” and reporting it as his own source. I have seen him lift things from message boards that personality X said Y and his own sources have confirmed. However, what gets Eklund in the end, is that message poster misheard what was originally on the radio. So like I said…the telephone game.
He does this time after time after time.
If it isn’t that, he rephrases things seen on KuklasKorner.com or somewhere else minutes later (see the Souray material for an example). If anyone ever wanted to, and was observant enough, they could nail him with time stamps as circumstantial evidence. I would wager 90% of the stuff Eklund posts is ripped off from somewhere or fake. I have seen it too many times. However, he has enough believers/paying customers to keep doing it.

The odds are that Eklund gets one trade correct?

HFBoards posters used to e-mail him rumours, and Ek would run with them.

Still obsessed, eh Paul? How are those spreadsheets going?
That timestamp conspiracy that you’re so concerned with… our new server was set to Central Time.
I’m still waiting for you to forward me that stuff you’d said you send…
Posted by Chris DeGroat on 02/23/07 at 07:53 PM ET
Chris, this will not turn into a war of words. You never emailed me, so stop turning things around, again.

Paul,
I responded to your post when you asked if I wanted to see the what you’ve got with “Youv’e got my email”. Feel free to go back and look it up if you don’t believe me.
Posted by Chris DeGroat on 02/23/07 at 08:03 PM ET
I just did, what don’t you understand Chris in the words email me.
My readers do not want to tread his stuff, if you have something to say that is on topic of this post, feel free to do so.
Otherwise, you comments will be deleted.

Paul,
I don’t have your email address, therefore it would be hard for me to send you an email.
As for this particular post… if you truly aren’t on a witch hunt and are interested in the truth regarding Eklund, you’d edit the above post stating that the questions about the timestamps have been answered. Then again, if you actually cared about the truth you would have emailed Eklund himself asking about it rather than trying to make something out of nothing on your blog.

I will edit the post Chris, when the explanation shows up on HB. Why the change and no notification of it?
My email address is located onthe left sidebar under “About”.
The last email Dwayne sent me, he said he would never email me again, that answers your question.
Posted by Paul from Motown Area on 02/23/07 at 08:19 PM ET
It wasn’t a “change”. The site was moved to a new server and they had it set to Central time zone because that’s where the server is located. I’ve put in a request to move it to ET and I believe it is fixed already.

Dude,
Paul’s email address is on the left sidebar of every page on this site. Even the most neophyte websurfer knows there is usually a contact link to be found somewhere. I found it in approximately 8 seconds.

I just responded to an email from a long time reader of KK and wanted to know about Guerin.
I said who knows where he could end up, maybe even on Long Island.
But the point of this post was Melrose never said anything about Guerin. Check the tape from WFAN.

I have to say that I am a nobody with a very minor blog of my own and Paul has responded to all my e-mails quickly and professionally. It is also very easy to find the e-mail address and contact Paul but it is near impossible to find a way to conatct “ek” or whoever he is.

Doman,
The ‘contact us’ link on HockeyBuzz is pretty easy to find.

Sportsnet tried to cover up his face, but it could still be seen. The person many people thought Eklund was, was in fact him.
He has been revealed as Dwayne Keith.

Hey, DeGroat’s back!
Chris, I know you’re busy defending your boss after he made the understandable mistake of confusing a rumor “from more than one source with ties to the players or teams involved” with a rumor started by a caller to a sports talk radio show—I mean, hey, maybe it was a longtime listener and a first-time caller, right?
But if we could jump back for a moment to a previous conversation on these boards:
“Eklund” began collecting money from his readers back when he claimed to have written for NHL.com and The Hockey News, having worked for NHL teams and the NHL itself. He later collected money from his readers while claiming that he actually had nothing to do with hockey after college, making his “own fame in a completely different world until the lockout came.”
Once more, with feeling: Which work history is the correct one? And if the correct one is the current one, is the earlier one a fabrication?

Greg,
I have already answered that question. JJ was able to comprehend my answer. What is wrong with you that prevents you from being able to comprehend it?

BTW, Greg.. I turned off email notifications for this post. If you have something else to ask me, feel free to email me. If you don’t have my addy, you can reach me through the tips addy on my website.

Keep the comments on topic. If you want to talk about who Eklund is, please do it here...

gotta love Eklund. he once stated on flyers message board that he was talking right infront of Miroslav
Satan’s agent and said he was a flyer.

Now, I’ll quietly move on before Kukla goes all HF Boards mod on me and locks this up

I;d never lock it up Greg, have too much respect for the KK readers.
