Conditional pick 5th rounder, 4th if they make playoffs, 3rd if they win a round.

If I’m Guerin there is no way I waive my NTC for a 5th round pick, it lessens my value on the open market in the off season when looking for a new contract. If you are Garth Snow you are better off keeping the asset instead of giving it away for below market value so that you set the tone for future deals. I’m sure there was another deal in place that fell through and Snow made the mistake of tipping his hand too early. Pittsburgh the way they look now are only giving up a fourth rounder so that can at least ride Guerin to some first round playoff income.

Thats a decent trade. Most likely a 4th rounder, but possibly a 3rd (especially if we play the Caps in the 1st round
)

Chiarelli gives up two players and a 2nd round pick for Recchi.
Sather gives up a second-rounder and another pick for Antropov.
Philly gives up Upshall and a 2nd for Carcillo, in what looks like a failed bid to free up cap room to land Bouwmeester.
Shero gives up at worst a 3rd round pick for Guerin.
Awesome, awesome job by Shero.
