Habs demote Boyd, set for Bruins

It’s been a busy day and week, and I’ve *just* gotten my computer back, but a quick summary before tonight’s game:

Dustin Boyd has been sent down to the AHL. He won’t be back - the Habs don’t want to end up paying half of his salary for the rest of the year.

Jaroslav Spacek is extremely slow. Will Jacques Martin scratch him tonight? He can use the excuse that Spacek is still hurting from the Clarke MacArthur beatdown of Saturday. We shall see.

PK Subban is a kid, a rookie, and under a lot of pressure. Sure, he made mistakes last night, but he also scored a goal and made more than a few good passes. Let’s see how he responds after what was a downer of a game last night against Philadelphia.

The Habs have to beat the Bruins. Why? They once had a snug hold on the North East lead. A loss tonight in regulation means the Bruins take the lead. Will the Habs come out flying, or playing that passive Jacques Martin style? We’ll know soon enough.

And lastly: the top six is missing a top six guy. It’s time to give Benny Pouliot another shot there. He’s played great on the third line. If the Habs are deadset on keeping him with Halpern and Darche, then make a move and bring in a bonifide to six’er. The cap room is there. The money is there. Come on Gauthier, go get ‘em.

And really lastly: Max Pacioretty looked great last night. But I reiterate my words about Subban: he’s a rookie. Let’s give him some slack and see how it goes over the next few games.
