Habs release five from camp

No surprises here, although interesting to note that Louis Leblanc and Jarred Tinordi are still in camp (see the press release below).

Reports so far have been that Ian Schultz has looked quite good in camp, although it would take a lot for him to threaten a veteran’s roster spot. No big noise yet from Ben Maxwell or any of the other seasoned Bulldogs pushing for a role on the Habs.

PRESS RELEASE

MONTRÉAL—The Montreal Canadiens announced Monday that forwards Philippe Lefebvre (Montreal – QMJHL) and Brendan Gallagher (Vancouver – WHL), defensemen Morgan Ellis (Cape Breton – QMJHL) and Joe Stejskal (Dartmouth – ECAC), as well as goaltender Nicholas Champion (Lewiston – QMJHL) were released from training camp and returned to their respective team.

Fifty-three (53) players are still at training camp, including five (5) goaltenders, eighteen (18) defensemen and thirty (30) forwards. The list includes four injured players: Andrei Markov, Roman Hamrlik, Hunter Bishop and Dany Massé.

The Canadiens will play five preseason games in six nights, starting this Wednesday, September 22 against the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre.
