from TSN,
The Montreal Canadiens are the latest Canadian NHL team to release their new look jersey for the 2007-08 season, going with almost an identical look from their previous sweaters.
The usual current team colours of red, blue and white are there, as well as the classic horizontal stripes for their red home jerseys.

Actually, hold on. They did shrink the red cuffs on the road jerseys, to be more in line with the sweaters of the 50s and 70s dynasties, mimicking similar “retro” alterations by Detroit (smaller sleeve stripes and the reversed “Ted Lindsay” captain’s C) and Boston (Bobby Orr’s sweater returns). So that’s something.

You don’t mess with a classic.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic that they’ve resisted the urge to screw about. However, I have found the odd opinion around that they should’ve done something, which strikes me as very...ah, stupid.
Basically, my comments were a joke on the fact that no one expected any more significant changes than what we’ve got: smaller red bands on the cuffs and a white collar instead of white and blue.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

I think it might actually violate Quebec law to make any kind of noticable changes to the Canadiens’ jerseys. After all, they’ve stayed the same for the last 95 years, what’s the sense in doing anything now?
When the most drastic change you make in that time is changing the colour distribution on the collar, you’re not changing jack.
