Half Way Throught Road Trip, Can Chicago Sweep

from Tim Sassone of Between the Circles at the Chicago Daily-Herald,
Is it being a little too greedy to think the Hawks can go 6-0 on this road trip?
Wednesday’s game in San Jose won’t be easy, but the Sharks can be beat and the Hawks almost did it last week at the United Center. The Hawks led 5-4 going to the third period then took a couple dumb penalties and wound up losing 6-5.
It’s on to Anaheim Friday and the Ducks aren’t anywhere near as good as they were when they won the Stanley Cup.
The Hawks close the trip Saturday at Los Angeles against an improved, but nothing special Kings team.
The way Khabibulin is playing and the way the Hawks have shown they can score goals, there’s not a game on the schedule they can’t win.

Well, one team in twelve has taken a victory in San Jose, and it took a 53-save effort and an overtime.
If the Kings could get their act together, California would be quite a murderers row.
For consecutive road wins in Anaheim and San Jose (or vice-versa), Nashville is the most recent team to accomplish this, but there haven’t been many others in the last five seasons:
Dallas Nov 07
NY Rangers Nov 06
Dallas Nov 05
Minnesota Nov 05
Ottawa Oct 04
Vancouver Mar-Apr 04
New Jersey Jan 03
That’s eight times in (if my count is correct) fifty-four chances. Ouch.
If you toss in a Kings and/or Coyotes game between the Sharks and Ducks, even fewer teams have beaten the big two in the same road trip:
Detroit Jan 08
St Louis Jan 07
Vancouver Nov 05
Detroit Oct 02
That works out to four in forty-six chances, less than ten percent.

Well, one team in twelve has taken a victory in San Jose, and it took a 53-save effort and an overtime. So yes, I’d say it’s greedy (or at least very ambitious).
