Hasek Flops

from the Calgary Sun,

Call this one a gift from one of the greats.
The Calgary Flames can thank Dominik Hasek’s tribute to Keanu Reeves last night for helping the hosts out of a tailspin that threatened their playoff chances….
While Hasek tried to defend his juvenile actions after the game by suggesting he was walloped by someone’s elbow as two players fought for goalmouth position, a furious coach Mike Babcock would have none of it.
“It wasn’t interference at all—our goalie tried to draw the penalty and he dove and they shot it in the net,” spat Babcock, who said he’s warned Hasek of such well-known hijinks in the past.

Can’t agree with Babcock more.

Hasek has been on fire the last week when it comes to costing the Wings goals. Stay in the damn net, and don’t take dives. Your job is to stop the puck and nothing else. If I were Holland I’d fine him any time he leaves the painted area.

Hasek’s flop last night really ticked us off, he handed the game to the flames with that stupid move.

We were calling for him to be pulled, regardless of how “good” he is.

High-risk, high-reward.  Hasek flops, but he also kept the Red Wings in a game in which they were thoroughly dominated over the first 40 minutes.

It was a stupid mistake on Dom’s part, but if a guy gives up 2 goals and makes another 20-some superb stops, your team should be able to bail him out.
