From Helene St. James at the Free Press,
The Red Wings have called a news conference for 11 a.m. Monday to make an announcement regarding the future of Dominik Hasek.
Based on comments Hasek made after the Wings won the Stanley Cup last Wednesday with Chris Osgood in goal, it appears he is leaning toward retirement.
Hasek, who was in goal for the Wings when they won the Cup in 2002, said of the 2008 championship that, “I’ll be honest, I can’t enjoy it as I did enjoy the Stanley Cup in 2002.”

Gotta be retiring. You don’t call a press conference for signing a one year deal.

Retirement doesn’t surprise me at all. Hasek may be crazy, but he’s not stupid - looking back on the injuries this season, and the initial series with Nashville, he doesn’t have the stamina anymore to be a number one goaltender, no matter how competitive he still is. At least he won’t leave wondering if he could still play - and going out with another Cup is pretty sweet.

I imagine Jimmy doing cartwheels in his basement right now…
Personally, I’m just breathing a sigh of relief. And crossing all my fingers and toes he doesn’t unretire and throw the room into disarray again. But, surely Kenny wouldn’t allow a repeat of that scenario.
Good day, Dom. Enjoy your Stanley Cup, your HOF induction and the rest of whatever life holds for you. You brilliantly insane bastard you.
