HD And Versus

I just got off the phone with Versus and they tell me Thursday’s game between the Wings and Stars will be in HD.
However, the Friday game between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia is still up in the air. They are trying to work something out with the Golf Channel which shares air time with VersusHD on Friday nights.

Rob, we’re talking about people who watch golf. On TV. On a Friday night. Logic and reason both skipped town a long time ago.

Sad thing for the NHL is that more people watch golf on TV then hockey, a lot more.

Here are some viewer numbers from a couple of weeks ago:
4 VERIZON HERITAGE (Golf) SUN CBS 2,376,000
5 VERIZON HERITAGE (Golf) SAT CBS 1,767,000
8 NHL PLAYOFFS-SUN NBC 1,525,000
10 NHL PLAYOFFS-SAT NBC 1,196,000
Don’t get me wrong I love the NHL, but their is logic to show golf instead of hockey.

Either spit up the HD channels or give up your exclusive rights to channels that actually will show it in HD. SD for the conference finals is unacceptable.

MY HUSBAND AND I ABSOLUTELY HATE COMCAST..........AS SOON AS WE’RE ABLE, WE’RE SWITCHING CABLE COMPANIES. FOR ALL THE FEES THEY CHARGE, IT’D BE NICE TO GET SOME AMENITIES, INSTEAD OF HAVING COMCAST TAKE THEM AWAY.............

I cannot believe so many people would watch Golf on a Friday night on HD...The word Loser come to mind almost immediately.
As everyone knows Hockey on SD basically sucks compared to HD...but Golf on HD actually sucks compared to anything.
Lousy Versus jerks.

I receive the VSGFHD channel 604 on Direct TV, with a number of sports packages. Direct TV has more than enought HD capacity to add a Versus HD feed if it is/was available.
For those interested, the golf that is planned to be aired on he shared VSGFHD channel, it is not live, the program is a highlight show. There is no way a golf highlight show should take priority over a live NHL ECF or WCF playoff game. It boggles my mind and is simply rediculous. The NHL should step in, and Versus should at the very least offer the HD feed to systems which can deal with the extra bandwith. Direct TV can easiliy add one extra HD feed.

Robert, I do believe that is what they are trying to do, find an alternatiive station to broadcast the game on.
As soon as I get information, I will be posting it.

Golf Channel also normally has Thursday nights too, so if they can do the NHL Thursday, why is Friday an issue?
