The Offer Sheet Game

George McPhee was just on NHL Live and mentioned Mike Green looks like he will be playing the Offer Sheet Game and there isn’t much the Capitals can do about it.  They will just wait it out and see where it goes (earlier this week McPhee said he would match an offer sheet in about ten minutes).

He mentioned there is some interest in Sergei Fedorov but it has to be the right fit.  Talks with Huet continue but nothing new to report.

George mentioned there are about two or three teams that are trying to make some moves, but it doesn’t seem that active right now.

He was asked if he was concerned about the cap rising and he said yes.  He didn’t expect this when the new CBA came about.

Looks like Mike Green equals blank check

Just how good is Green anyway? He scored a few timely goals, but is a severe defensive liability (he is a defenseman after all). Although he had good numbers in the AHL, he has no track record in the National league - 1 decent season. If he wants more than 3.5 - 4, I say let him go.
