Hey Scott, You Should Have Thrown Your Helmet Too

from Phil Sheridan of the Philadelphia Inquirer,

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Scott Hartnell was tired. He couldn’t catch Tampa Bay’s Ryan Malone, who was closing in on Flyers goalie Marty Biron. So he did the first thing that came to mind.

He threw his glove at Malone, giving the Lightning veteran a penalty shot with 16 seconds remaining in a tie game.

This kind of play is exactly why Scott Hartnell will always be a Nashville Predator in my book.  Don’t subject the good people of Philly to this kind of inexplicable stupidity, Scott.  Especially when the game is on the line!  The fans in Nashville at least wouldn’t know any better, but in Philly, they know they’re hockey, unlike the bandwagon chumps in Pittsburgh.

What a buffoon. If only the puck had gone in when he subsequently kicked it on goal.
