from the Ottawa Sun,
“It’s funny, you don’t play for a week, and you watch a couple of games, on TSN, and how they love Detroit ... and Detroit has the best line in the league right now,” Paddock said, a reference to the Red Wings’ combination of Henrik Zetterberg-Tomas Holstrom-Pavel Datsyuk and comments apparently made by hockey analyst Pierre McGuire. “That’s what everybody’s saying and it’s only because, well not only because ... they’re good players ... but we haven’t played in a week. Everybody has forgotten about (Jason Spezza-Daniel Alfredsson-Dany Heatley) because you’re out of sight, you’re out of mind. We haven’t played. Now Detroit has the best line in the league....”

I love the fact that Ottawa has had a full week off. Must be they’re recovering from that grueling road trip to New York on the 13th. I’m sure glad they had a chance to rest up for that looooong flight down to New Jersey for today’s game.
I wonder how great their “best in the league” record and top-line players would fare if they were taking cross-country trips for their away games. Pansies!

The lines *are* very even. Both score four points a game, both are responsible for just under half their team’s goals, etc. They’ve even played against statistically similar opposition (winning percentage of .464 in both cases, although the Wings opponents have a slightly better GAA, 3.01 vs. 3.13).
The only thing that really separates them is plus/minus. The Ottowa trio’s combined +6 is pretty underwhelming considering that their team is better defensively than the Wings. The Flying Circus is a combined +20.

Besides, how lame is “Pizza Line” compared with “The Flying Circus?” Red Wings win on the cool name factor, too.
