Higgins Still Not Healthy

from Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun,
Chris Higgins’ latest illness is the result of a reaction to medication the Vancouver Canucks winger had been prescribed to help battle recurring staph infections.
Higgins remains in Vancouver and Canucks coach Alain Vigneault does not know exactly when he will return to the lineup.
“We got the results from the exams that they did and it is a reaction to the anti-biotics he was taking for the staph infection,” Vigneault said Monday. “Now they have got him on new medication. I didn’t talk to Bernie (trainer Mike Burnstein) after practice, but they were texting back and forth before practice and he was starting to be able to hold some food in. So we are hoping that as soon as he gets his strength back he’ll be able to join us.”
Higgins was said to be suffering flu-like symptoms and was left behind in Vancouver when the Canucks departed Friday on their current four-game road trip.
Vigneault acknowledged there is concern about Higgins’ health. He has had two separate staph infections this season and had another just over a year ago while with the Florida Panthers.
