Hiller Feels He Will Have To Be Better

from Craig Custance of The Sporting News (Sunday edition),

In Game 1 against the Red Wings, Hiller made 34 saves against the high-charged Detroit offense but left the arena feeling like the Ducks missed an opportunity to beat the Red Wings.

He got a taste of what the series will be like: plenty of bodies in front of him, namely Tomas Holmstrom, and shooters with pinpoint accuracy.

“They’re good players, but it’s not much different than the series against San Jose,” Hiller told reporters after the game. “I’ll have to do a better job next time.”

Don’t be surprised if he does a better job today. After all, he has done it before.

much more on Hiller…

added 10:10pm, from Helene Elliott of the LA Times (Sunday edition),

Saturday came and went and the NHL didn’t suspend Ducks forward Mike Brown, known in Hockeytown as The Baddest Man On Skates, for his hard hit on Detroit’s Jiri Hudler during the Red Wings’ 3-2 victory in the opener of the teams’ second-round playoff series.

Now, maybe they can get back to playing hockey today at Joe Louis Arena instead of playing victim and maligned villain.

- Helene Elliot.

Uh…who in Hockeytown calls such a person, Helen?  Who?  The “Baddest Man on Skates” is either Jonny Ericsson or Pavel Datsyuk.

Just stop.

Nothing special about Brown - just the latest cheap-shotting Duck.  He doesn’t deserve any special title.

Cheap shots? What is with this p*ssy bunch of Wings fans? Where are the Red Wings that f*ck up the Avalanche with the likes of Konstantinov, McCarty, and Mike Vernon owning the Douchebag Roy?

Mike Brown’s hit was a textbook hockey hit that has been employed by Scott Stevens and Brian Campbell over on YouTube. Stop acting as if you are pansies like The Dive. He hit his head, which is unfortunate, but he got his game misconduct and five minute penalty. This hit has completely different circumstances than Brash’s hit.

Oh yes. A textbook hit, alright. With flying elbows, that is. It’s cheap crap, and you know it.

If there’s any special title for this d-bag, it’s “Detroit’s Bitch.” That’s what he’s going to be for the rest of this series.

Ummm, no. That title is shared among the numerous Hall of Fame-rs we have either on the roster or in the rafters.

Unfortunate or not, it’s a major penalty. Same thing with high-sticking. Draw blood from a head shot and you’re (or should be) done. The circumstances of both hits, however, were very different. And that shouldn’t be glossed over, which is why Brown didn’t get a suspension.

Seriously? Wait a few games and see how much difference discipline, overwhelming drive, perseverance and a never ending net presence, makes. Welcome to the D. Bitch.

Helene Elliot again goes and shows she’s an idiot.

I don’t care how long she’s been around, how long she’s been near the game. She’s an idiot.

Kinda like Michael Arace… an idiot.
