Hit The Wings

from Adrian Dater of All Things Avs,

If the Avs are to beat Detroit, they’re going to have to do what they did to Marian Gaborik, which is HIT their star players. The Avs hit the Wings about as hard as a teenage girl pillow fight in the regular season, so it’ll be time to change that.

The Avs are clearly a different team than the regular season, though. Foote and Salei have vastly improved and toughened the blue line. I mean, it’s not even close there.

Before things heat up here on KK regarding the Avs/Wings series, make sure to check out the bottom of Daters blog. Want a conversation piece, buy his book and the money goes for a great cause, check it out…

It’s pretty incredible reading the comments on Dater’s blog. Almost all of the fans would rather play Detroit than Dallas for reasons that were valid in 2003, but are not longer true.

The common refrain is about how much tougher the Avs are. I’m pretty sure Darren McCarty, Dallas Drake, and if necessary, Aaron Downey would be more than willing to dispute that.

Nevermind guys like Holmstrom, Franzen, and Cleary. I would expect Avs fans, after watching Ryan Smyth for (part of) a season would understand that even though those three players don’t hit a ton and aren’t fighters, that they are clearly tough when you consider the abuse they intentionally take to benefit their team.

Dive Fans crack me up too. Hockey seems like it’s still new there when you read uninformed hilarity like that.

Dear Paul and CC:

There are other Avs blogs than just Dater’s.

He is not representative of the fan base, nor a very good blogger.

Thanks
