Hossa Felt It Was Time To Get Rotator Cuff Surgery

from Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune,

“It was getting really bad,” said Hossa, who played with the injury last season and scored 40 goals with the Red Wings. “The smartest idea was to do it at the time.

“When I lifted something light, I couldn’t ... raise my arms. It was that bad. Right now the rehab is going well, [and] I can’t wait to start working out with the heavier weights on the upper body. When I’m 100 percent, I’ll jump on the ice and not worry about anything.”

Hossa said the injury worsened during the Wings’ run to the Stanley Cup finals last season as he was limited to three assists in the seven-game series the Penguins won. That performance drew the ire of many Wings fans who didn’t realize Hossa was injured.

“That’s part of our business,” Hossa said. “We can’t talk about injuries during the playoffs. People can say whatever they want. They don’t see what’s happening inside.”

It’s a bit odd that when either Holland or Babcock talked about the guys who played with injuries during the playoffs that Hossa’s name never came up. Maybe Marian never told them he was injured. smile

His numbers did come down a bit from the previous playoff season playing w/ Pit. But his ice-time fell too,so that could have been part of the reason for his offensive decline.

07-08 Penguins   20, 12-14- 26, +8, 20:60
08-09 Red Wings 23, 6-9-15, +5 , 18:38

This is just one more bullet in the gun that is the Red Wings’ fan’s excuse for losing the S.C. Finals to Pit.  Injuries. I’m sure they had an effect on the series, but that’s all part of the game. Isn’t that one of the attributes that makes Lidstrom so great, his ability to stay healthy. Just sayin’.

The only one who brought it up here is you. Fanning the flames in your usual passive-aggressive way. So sad.

Like nobody’s ever used the injury excuse this summer!
Maybe not yet on this post but give it time.

OTC, why so sensitve? Did I write something factual wrong?

Oh, I see. My mistake. You’re not talking about now. You’re still living in the past…obsessing about what happened last spring and what some Wings fan said at some point this summer. Right. Got it. You still haven’t figured out how to move on. Well, that too is just…so sad.

OTC-Why do you feel like it’s your responsibility to defend them?
You take everything so personally. I wasn’t commenting about you. You just admitted as much. Relax, I do beleive there’s an ointment for that though. You should get some and try it.

Who is this ts1sadniL you speak of. Is somebody out there trying to impersonate me in reverse? I hope not. This can not stand!  There should be sactions! Or something, whatever it is they do to whoever did whatever to me.

Speak for yourself. I left some with Linda last night. Go upstairs and ask her for it. Works wonders.

You take everything so personally.

And in true passive-aggressive mode, you point the finger at someone else for the very thing you do yourself. No one said anything about Wings fans complaining about last spring’s Finals until you dredged it up. You, Mr. Passive-Aggressive, are the one who takes everything personally.

I do beleive there’s an ointment for that though.

Um, what is it you “beleive” in? Oh, right. Got it. You can’t spell any better than you can make a “cogent” argument. Maybe you should stick to commenting on Pens-related posts. Over “there” they aren’t smart enough to know how to spell or how to make relevant posts.

Bye, bye now. Have a nice season. Too bad you never did learn how to enjoy the Pens “victory” last spring. So sad. Just so damn sad.

I can’t spell no good and my gramma sucks, so you win!

BUTyou wrote:

I didn’t write that anyone was complaining either. I just wrote it’s another excuse that some Red Wing fans will use in the future. It’s just a prognostication (good word, hah) I made based on past observations.

Seriously, do you think some fans will point to that (Hossa injury)as a reason for the lose in the future? I do. That’s all I’m saying.
I think you just like to argue with me. Don’t worry there(?) will be future posts that you can confront me on, ‘cause you always do.

And you didn’t say that to “stir things up” with those fans the way you like to do, right, Linda? Nah. You wouldn’t do something like that.

Don’t worry there(?) will be future posts that you can confront me on…

Every time you drag out that tired old passive-aggresive play plan of yours, Linda, I definitely will confront you about it. And since you obviously can’t stop yourself from playing that role in Wings-related posts, I’m sure I’ll have plenty of opportunities to do that.
