Hossa Rehabbing Torn Rotator Cuff Injury

from Tim Sassone of Between The Circles at the Chicago Daily-Herald,

A source close to the situation confirmed new Hawks winger Marian Hossa has a shoulder or rotator cuff injury.

The severity of the injury is not known, although it is possible Hossa might need surgery, which could put him out of the Hawks lineup until December.

The Hawks are monitoring Hossa while he rehabs the injury, believed to have been suffered during the playoffs.

Well, at least it makes his pitiful finals performance somewhat understandable - maybe.

So did the ‘Hawks know about this injury before he signed? Another reason Tallon was “reassigned?” Did Hoss hide the injury to smooth negotiations? How bad is it?

Inquiring minds want to know, even while laughing hysterically at the hole the ‘Hawks have dug themselves.

I figured he was injured, but I didn’t expect shoulder. His complete lack of acceleration most of the playoffs looked like a lower body problem to me.  Anybody know his SOG stats off hand? Did they drop at all?

That would be no, technically they went up in the Playoffs. Practically they stayed the same though.

I was thinking a groin issue, also because of the acceleration.  To see such a strong, quick skater lose that part of his game didn’t seem to have anythign to do with a shoulder issue.
