Hurricanes Acquire Hordichuk From Predators

From TSN,

The first of many trades expected during the NHL draft has taken place. The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired forward Darcy Hordichuk from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2009.

However, Hordichuk is due to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and if he does not sign with the Hurricanes, Carolina will receive a fifth-round draft pick in 2010.

The Hurricanes have also signed blueliner Tim Gleason for 4 years at an average of 2.75 million per year.

It’s sort of weird the Hordichuk thing is written about as the big story. I think the Gleason signing is the main news. (I don’t mean you, Alanah, I mean the way TSN has it.)

You make a very good point, Sunny. I was actually thinking something similar after I posted this story, that my title wasn’t a great choice for the news on both fronts.

Any player trade stories are a huge deal today and for the next few days, as picks move around, etc. But of course, for Canes fans, the Gleason signing is an important deal.

Thank you for providing that link. smile
