I Told You…

Listening to the mis-informed sports radio jocks here in Detroit has been a joke today.  Most have no idea what the game of hockey is all about and it is showing.  One thing I have picked up throughout the day and from at least 4 sports jocks…

I told you that Hasek should have been traded earlier in the season, we could have gotten a great asset for him!

So hockey fans, would you have traded an asset for Hasek?

How about you Ottawa, you needed goaltending, would you have taken him?

Maybe Chicago, he could have ended up where he started!  Maybe Calgary, Dom would have been a great backup to Kipper!

Did anyone want Hasek?  Tampa Bay Lightning, maybe, but a trade between the Wings and Bolts would never happen.

Any takers?

Even NHL live was pretty clueless on the whole Detroit goaltending situation for now and the future.  Saying stuff like Detroit will go after Dan Ellis in the off-season.  Wtf?  (Was EJ who said it)

Nobody in the NHL wanted Hasek before the 2006-7 season, but Ken Holland saw that there was still some good hockey left in this great goalie.

Given the CAP system, Holland got a great deal, and Hasek took the Wings to within 1 poorly called penalty of the Stanley Cup finals.

In the 2007-2008 season, Hasek has given the Wings good goal tending and great value for the money spent.

Hasek may just return to help ‘tend the Wings further in these playoffs.

If he does retire, he can walk away with his head held high after a Hall-of-Fame career.

I’d trade Detroit Alexi Zhitnik for him in a friggin’ heartbeat, not exactly an asset, but about as close as Detroit would get.  Hell, I’d throw in a used stick bag and a dozen pucks just so I could say Dom Hasek played for my team.
