So Leafs get Lebda for 1,450,000…  would take that over 2,999,995 for White any day!  I like Whitey, and enjoyed his time in TO, but he is not worth that kind of money imo.  That is one sad looking cap roster the Flames have…

I’m just wondering why they couldn’t toss the man the extra 5 bucks and give him $3M?  Are they really in danger of going $5 over the cap?

It’s just the same as why items in stores are priced at $2.99 instead of $3.00, it makes the buyer feel a little bit better about the price tag and maybe say “It costs two bucks and change” as opposed to “It costs three dollars.”

Hahahaha…I was thinking the same thing.  Maybe they bought him a footlong at Subway for lunch before the meeting…

“Ian…we’re willing to give you $3 million to play for the Calgary Flames this season…how does that sound?”

“Well…you guys DID just buy me lunch, so I’ll give you a discount.  How about we make it $2,999,995 and call it a deal?”

“DONE!”
