Now that many of us are experiencing high temperatures in early August, how about we cool down a bit and watch the process of putting in the ice at an arena.

I thought that the White color and markings came from styrofoam pieces that fit together like a puzzle.
How do stadiums like the Verizon center do it when they have a Wizards game followed by a Caps game within 24 hours?

lordhogie, some multi-purpose arenas will put plywood over the ice surface then build the court court.

It’s interesting, because I am sure there are quality issues. you always hear about what stadiums have the best ice.
I always found this topic interesting, not just for hockey, but all sports. I heard that the stadium where the Arizona Cardinals play, grow their grass for the field outside and “roll” it into the stadium on giant conveyor belts to avoid the potential pitfalls of turf.

Wachovia Center usually puts down plywood over the ice surface and leaves the core temp btw 20-30 degrees. what people dont know is sometimes the temp outside can effect the settings inside of an arena.
i cant believe training camp starts up in a month

I took part in the ice making at “The Rock” prior to the Devils 1st season in their Newark arena.
I always heard that it was a long tedious process with a lot of walking involved, but the amount of walking that I did over a two day period was unreal.
An amazing experience but definitely not something I’d want to do all of the time.
