More from Michael Russo at the Star-Tribune,
Back in 2004-05, when I was writing fun things about third-string Dolphins linemen blowing out their knees and being assigned stuff such as Tonya Harding’s prizefight against a transvestite, people would say to me, “Boy, you must be going nuts during the lockout.”
I replied, “Yeah, but the good news is they’ll idiot-proof the NHL’s economic system, stop the owners from spending recklessly and the league will live long and prosper.”
Well, this NHL writer learned a lot in these first few days of free agency, such as, you can’t idiot-proof the system when idiots are at the controls.
