If Radulov Came Back To Nashville

from John Glennon of the Tennessean,

Would Radulov’s coaches, teammates and fans forgive him for trying to skip out on the final year of his Nashville contract in order to play in Russia, or would they embrace the return of one of the league’s top young offensive talents?

Both Predators Coach Barry Trotz and team captain Jason Arnott say they want Radulov to return for the coming season, but they are aware some baggage might come with him.

“When you back out on your deal and you let your teammates and the whole organization down like that, it’s hard to swallow — no question,’’ Arnott said. “I can’t sugarcoat it any better. It’s disappointing.

“But if he does come back and play with us, hopefully he comes back with a good mind and be ready to play. If he does that, I think guys will forget about it....”

I imagine Radulov would probably dog it while Salavat watches with both great anticipation and severe hesitation should anything happen to him.

Arnott’s a smart guy.  He says exactly what the other players in that dressing room are most likely thinking, without the cursing and name calling.  I respect his honesty.  As for Poile, I can understand wanting to ice the best team you can and expecting contracts to be fulfilled.  Also he may just be trying to hold the line since it’s an issue of contract.  Kind of set an example in case anyone else tries to pull this bs.  I guess the thing I find the most disappointing is that it has come up at all.  He signed a contract!  They talk about his lack of maturity in the article and so, despite trying to force the contract, why would they want him anyway?  This organization can’t catch a break.  If he breaks the contract the NHL needs to set a precedent.  Any player, ANY, that breaks a contract never plays in the NHL again.  Ever. So I guess it’s the NHL’s job to handle this. Not Poile’s. anyone think they will? Me neither.
