In a move that is sure to ruffle more than a few feathers inside the Flyers’ locker room, Bryzgalov alerted the media on Sunday after practice at Citizens Bank Park that he would not be the starting goaltender for Monday’s 2012 Winter Classic.

People get on hockey players for being so bland and not saying anything interesting. Then when they do go off script and say something everyone has a cow. It’s no wonder the players never say what they feel.

I think it’s just Bryz being Bryz. He’s a funny guy, let him speak his mind. As HFO mentioned above, it is rare that a player actually does this. Kudos to Bryz.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

I would chuckle. He’s clearly disappointed, but dealing with it using a touch of black humor. I suppose some fans would rather he spit fire about not starting, or whine about it, because it shows “more heart” or that he “cares more” but that isn’t his personality.
He probably is extremely pissed about not playing well, because no professional athlete gets to this level without being very competitive, but it isn’t his personality to be openly upset when dealing with the media. It might be readily misunderstood by some, in the same way that “not screaming like a jackass” is sometimes interpreted as “he doesn’t care enough” but that is how he is. No point in pretending to be something he isn’t.
