Iginla A True Impact Player

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
As for Iginla, he now finds himself in a select group that includes Jaromir Jagr, Mike Gartner, Phil Esposito, Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull, Marcel Dionne, Mike Bossy, Jari Kurri and Darryl Sittler – all current or future Hall Of Famers. Scoring 30 goals every year speaks to Iginla’s consistency and his ability to produce results, night in and night out, with various linemates, through a host of coaching and regime changes for a decade and counting.
There is no better way of measuring his resilience – or the impact he’s had on a franchise that, for the moment anyway, is exciting a bit of passion in a market that looked hopelessly forlorn not so long ago.

His consistency is really impressive: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=14470.
Notice his goal totals before the 30-goal streak were 28 and 29.

A member of the Canadian media fawning over Iginla? Now there’s something you don’t see everyday.

I think that I, a Hockey-mad Canadian Flames fan, will happily fawn all over Iginla in these here comments. I hope that doesn’t bother you too much, Mr. Face
.
It’s a pretty impressive achievement, one that I am very happy to see Iggy hit as a Flame. He should hit 1,000 points soon as well. I love Iggy’s game and the way he plays and he makes me proud to be a Flames fan. As a Flames fan, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Iginla for his dedication to the franchise and the community. Solid work!

What’s even more amazing is the era he’s done it in, when scoring over the last 15 years has been way down. When Gretzky and company were doing it in the 80’s, Edmonton was scoring over 400 goals in 80 games…that’s an average of 5 goals a game! Calgary is and have been averaging half of that. Good guy too.
