Oilers General Manager Kevin Lowe will be announcing important changes to the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Operations Department at 11:30 p.m. MDT. Follow the link below to listen to the press conference LIVE via 630 CHED and check back for reaction, including audio, video and exclusive interviews.

Update 1:36pm ET: From the Oilers’ announcement --
- Kevin Lowe will be the new President of Hockey Operations.
- New General Manager, Steve Tambellini
- New Assistant General Manager, Kevin Prendergast

Sounds like a step down for Lowe, but I’m really not sure.

anyone think this is cuz the oil weren’t getting deals because of the lowe/burky feud? this moves lowe out of the eye of the storm and allows a new face to move and shake in the nhl. huh. i dunno ...

Getting Lowe away form GM for the Oilers can’t be a BAD thing. If it helps any though, we’ll see.

This will be a interesting experiment for the Oilers, having a GM that hasn’t won a fistful of Stanley Cups with the team.
