Is Mike Green On The Carpet Too?

from Capitals Outsider,

ESPN just retracted on SportsCenter, stating that Mike Green and Donald Brashear have not been suspended, yet. However they both now have a hearing at 1pm today. This is according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Tarik el-Bashir just posted in the comments section of his WaPo blog that the Post never reported that Green (or Brashear, for that matter) was/would be suspended.  ESPN’s high journalistic standards at work once again, folks.

Besides, what could Green get suspended for—not getting up immediately after getting boarded by Dubinsky?  If anything, it’s Dubinsky that could get the 1-game from Colie.

I think you’ll find that someone is going to be on the hook for biting Dubinsky hard enough to require a tetanus shot.

Brashear should be suspended for the playoffs after what he did.  Mike Green - other than having a horrible haircut really didn’t do much.

yeah, Brashear’s move was pure thuggery.  it’s obvious he had it in his mind before the game even started that he wanted to “do something.”  they should consider it a premeditate attempt to injure and remove him from the NHL.  permanently.  how many chances are they going to give this guy?

and the irony of all this?  Marty McSorley was banned for life for tapping him on the shoulder.  Brashear, trying to dive, hit his head, and voila, he is gone.  Brashear is a meat-head. The fact that he was allowed to stay in the game, and Brandon Dubinsky got a misconduct for trying to show the ref bite-marks on his finger tell you all you need to know about which way the ice is being tilted towards.
Although, if the Rangers could play competently, they could probably overcome that.

I think it would be relatively easy to find out who was responsible.  They do it all the time on CSI.  These guys do have dental records right?

I’ve talked to a few people and not one mention about a Green hearing too.  So it looks like ESPN was either wrong or put up the wrong names.

ESPN failing to get facts right for a hockey story.  I’m shocked.

Sportscenter had a hockey related story on their broadcast???  Holy cow!!  Oh wait, it was the only type of hockey story they ever carry…National Enquirer style journalism regarding a controversy. Now - back to round 22 of the NFL draft….

I actually thought Brashear had a little more class than that.

you know it mike.  if Brashear were a Ranger and did the same thing though, I would want him buried in the ECHL until his contract ran out.  At least Colton Orr has class.
