from On the Islanders Beat at Newsday,
As of this posting, it doesn’t appear the Islanders are going to sign anyone today. Along with Souray, Snow is considering a list that includes Detroit’s oft-injured Danny Markov, Atlanta’s Andy Sutton, Nashville’s Vitaly Vishnevski, Colorado’s Ossi Vaananen and likely a few others. Former Isle Bryan Berard might be a consideration, though he played only 11 games last season and 113 over the past three years because of injuries.
The possibility of trading for Phoenix’s Ed Jovanovski has been junked because of his no-trade clause, but a trade for former Islander Bryan McCabe can’t be ruled out even though he has four years worth $28.75 million remaining on his deal.

It cracks me up how people call Danny Markov “oft-injured”. I don’t know his full NHL history, but I certainly wouldn’t call him “oft-injured” based on his year with the Wings. Yes, he was injured a couple times and missed a few games here and there. But, considering his in your face agitating style of play, I wouldn’t call that oft-injured. If any Red Wing player can be called oft-injured it’s Kronwall. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear he broke his leg and/or separated his shoulder simply trying to lace up his skates. He is WAY too fragile. As a life long Michigan resident and Wings fan, I would like to see Kronwall do well for himself and for the team. But I don’t see it happening based on his injury prone body and his inability to ever be at 100% due to his injuries. I think the Wings signing him to a long term deal was a big mistake. I also think letting Markov go is a mistake and I can’t believe he has yet to be signed by another team. IMO Markov was great for Detroit last year. They wouldn’t have made it as far as they did without his services.
