It Is Important The Predators Make The Playoffs

from John Glennon of the Tennessean,
Over the past five years, only four National Hockey League teams have made more playoff appearances than the Nashville Predators.
But after failing to reach the postseason last year, those numbers shouldn’t necessarily make the franchise feel comfortable.
Some sports business experts believe it’s even more important to produce a consistent winner in nontraditional hockey markets such as Nashville than in places where the sport has deeper roots, where fans are more likely to keep their hearts and wallets open to the team, even in less successful times.
Miss the playoffs for a year in a place like Music City, and you can probably repair the damage done to the fan base, ticket sales and sponsorships. Miss the playoffs on a regular basis, however, and there’s the risk of encountering the bane of all sports franchises: apathy.

The interesting quote is that the Preds made money in 2007-2008. Based on media out of the great north, no sunbelt team has EVER made money and in fact steal millions in Canadian funds to stay afloat. Nashville making money is a lie, the team must move to Mumbletypeg or White Bear Lake to be viable!
