It Just Won’t Die

Among hockey broadcasters, speculation has Toronto Maple Leaf general manager John Ferguson fired in November if the team continues to lose more than it wins.

Who would replace him? Colin Campbell, the NHL’s Toronto based head of hockey operations, seems to be a favourite. But would the league allow him to leave his job in mid-season?

Would Scotty Bowman take the job?

Colin Campbell or Scotty Bowman? That’s quite a chasm in choices isn’t it? Reality is neither has the track record of being a great GM.

Oh, fertheluvagawd! This mindless stumping for Bowman by some in the Toronto media, despite Bowman’s assertions he’s not leaving Detroit, is getting ridiculous. Looks like the prospect of another season without getting within sniffing distance of the Stanley Cup has driven some to madness, poor things.
